UNITIZED STOREFRONT

A Unitized Storefront is a pre-assembled, single-span, non-load-bearing system that is typically used for commercial building facades. It is a stick-built system, meaning the components are installed piece by piece on-site, making it adaptable to a wide range of building shapes and sizes. The system is field-glazed and anchored at the perimeter for stability.

Water management is an essential feature of this design, as it uses internal gutters to control moisture. These gutters channel water from the horizontal mullions down the vertical ones and eventually to sill receptors, where the water is expelled from the system through weep holes, ensuring long-term protection against leaks.

Unitized storefronts offer flexibility in design, ease of installation, and increased efficiency in managing air and water infiltration, making them a popular choice for both small and large commercial projects. Additionally, their prefabricated sections help speed up installation time while providing superior structural integrity and thermal performance.

FAQ's

  • Unlike stick-built systems assembled piece-by-piece on site, unitized systems come pre-assembled in sections, making installation faster and often more precise.

  • Benefits include faster installation, better quality control, improved energy efficiency, and reduced on-site labor costs.

  • No, unitized storefronts are non-load-bearing, meaning they do not support the building structure but rather act as an exterior facade.

  • Pre-assembled units are attached to the building’s structure, simplifying the installation process and ensuring alignment across sections.

  • Yes, they can be customized for specific aesthetic and functional requirements, including glass types, frame finishes, and insulation options
